Senior Data Engineer — Financial Services — Contract (Remote, Brazil)
Confidencial (Apenas para Cadastrados) is a UK-based data and AI consultancy. We build data platforms, pipelines and AI systems for clients across the UK and Europe, and we're expanding our delivery capability in Brazil.
We're building a network of senior contract data engineers with financial services experience, ready to bring onto client projects as they start. This is a talent pool ahead of upcoming engagements, so we want to talk to strong people now even if a project isn't live on day one.
The work
Financial data is unforgiving. Reconciliation has to balance, lineage has to be traceable, and "roughly right" isn't a thing. You'd be working directly with the founder on client delivery — building production pipelines where correctness and auditability matter as much as throughput.
Typical engagements involve:
- Designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines for transactional and financial data
- Data modelling and transformation in dbt
- Warehouse architecture in BigQuery or Snowflake
- Integrating banking, payments, ledger or market data sources
- Reconciliation logic, data quality frameworks and testing
- Building for auditability, lineage and regulatory reporting
- Working to a clear technical standard, with architecture and code review from our side
What we're looking for
- Production data engineering experience in financial services, banking, fintech, payments or insurance
- Strong SQL — performance tuning, window functions, complex transformations
- Strong Python for data engineering
- Solid production experience with BigQuery or Snowflake
- dbt in a real production environment
- Git and a proper branching/review workflow
- Experience with data that has to reconcile, and where mistakes have consequences
- Comfortable working in English with UK-based clients
- Cloud platform experience — GCP or AWS
Nice to have
- Regulatory reporting experience
- Airflow or similar orchestration
- Terraform / infrastructure as code
- Streaming or real-time data (payments, fraud, transaction monitoring)
- Data governance or lineage tooling
- Exposure to UK or European financial regulation
Practical details
- Fully remote, contract basis (PJ)
- Project-based work, typically several weeks to several months
- Good overlap with UK hours (Brazil is 3–4 hours behind, so the working day lines up well)
- Paid in GBP or BRL, your preference
How to apply
Send your CV or LinkedIn profile, and please include:
1. Your day rate expectation (BRL or GBP — whichever you work in) — applications without a daily rate expectation won't be considered
2. A short note on one financial-data pipeline you've built: the stack, the scale, and what made it hard
3. Your availability and current commitments
4. Whether you invoice as PJ
We read everything and reply either way.
