WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

As our Lead Data Architect, you will be the strategic and technical thought leader behind the conception, evolution, and long-term vision of our data architectures. You will play a critical role in shaping our modern lakehouse environment, ensuring unparalleled scalability, robust governance, and optimal performance. Your pivotal mission will be to proactively align and drive our data strategy with overarching business objectives, acting as a chief evangelist and facilitator for both our internal technical teams and key client business leaders. We seek an individual with the profound ability to seamlessly bridge intricate technical details with a compelling strategic roadmap, making this role paramount to the success of our projects and the continuous evolution of our data landscape.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the end-to-end design, architecture, and oversight of implementation for highly scalable, robust, and secure data solutions, with a strong emphasis on Databricks-based lakehouse patterns and modern data platforms.
  • Define, develop, and own the strategic data modeling framework that supports complex analytical and operational requirements across the organization, ensuring data consistency, integrity, and future-proof design.
  • Establish and enforce comprehensive data governance frameworks, data quality standards, and privacy policies, guaranteeing compliance, reliability, and trustworthiness of our critical data assets.
  • Drive continuous performance optimization and efficiency improvements across data solutions, proactively identifying architectural bottlenecks, proposing innovative solutions, and leading their implementation.
  • Serve as a principal technical and strategic advisor to data engineering teams, data scientists, and senior business leaders, translating ambiguous and complex business requirements into clear, implementable architectural designs and strategic recommendations.
  • Actively engage, influence, and negotiate with senior business stakeholders to deeply understand their needs, effectively communicate architectural visions, and ensure robust alignment of data strategy with business outcomes.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to data architects and engineers, fostering best practices, architectural patterns, and a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Expert-level experience and a proven track record in designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable data architectures, with a strong emphasis on Databricks, Delta Lake, and modern lakehouse patterns.
  • Demonstrated leadership and hands-on experience in architecting and evolving complex, resilient, and highly available data platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in various data modeling techniques (e.g., relational, dimensional, NoSQL, graph) and their application in large-scale enterprise data solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in defining and implementing robust data governance strategies, metadata management, data lineage, and data cataloging initiatives.
  • Exceptional skills in performance optimization, troubleshooting, and tuning of large-scale data processing engines (e.g., Spark) and complex data pipelines.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken), with the ability to confidently lead discussions, present architectural proposals, and negotiate with global teams and international clients.
  • Proven ability to confidently and fluently engage, influence, and negotiate with senior business and technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear strategic implications and actionable plans.
  • Prior experience leading architectural discussions, initiatives, or technical streams within a fast-paced, agile environment.

DIFFERENTIATORS (NICE-TO-HAVES):

  • Experience in multi-cloud architecture (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and advanced expertise in their respective data services (e.g., Azure Synapse, AWS Glue, Google BigQuery, Dataflow).
  • Deep expertise in various data orchestration tools and platforms (e.g., Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Prefect, Dagster).
  • Strong understanding and practical application of Data Mesh and Data Fabric principles.
  • Experience with advanced analytics, machine learning integration, and MLOps within data architectures.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, IaC (Infrastructure as Code), and automated testing strategies for data solutions.
  • Familiarity with data security best practices, compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, LGPD), and privacy-enhancing technologies.
  • Certifications relevant to Databricks or cloud data platforms.
