About Us
We are a team of passionate individuals, developing ground-breaking biological technologies designed to sustainably, and safely control pests that transmit disease, destroy crops and harm livestock. We do this work to improve lives and livelihoods around the world in the face of the growing threats that pests pose to human health and the global food supply.
Whilst what we do relates to developing pest control technologies, Confidencial (Apenas para Cadastrados) is about people and is in service to people.
We are strongly committed to a set of values, and foster a culture of trust, respect, creativity, and accountability. Click here to learn more, and here to read our CEO’s blog about trust and our culture.
Purpose of the Job
As an AI and Machine Learning Engineer you will design, develop, and deploy advanced AI solutions with a strong emphasis on Agentic AI systems and predictive modelling. This role involves building intelligent agents capable of autonomous decision-making, integrating large language models (LLMs), and leveraging machine learning techniques to deliver accurate predictions and actionable insights.
Responsibilities
Agentic AI Development
- Design and implement agent-based architectures that enable autonomous reasoning, planning, and execution of tasks.
- Develop multi-agent systems for complex workflows, including coordination, negotiation, and goal-driven behavior.
- Integrate LLMs and reasoning engines into agentic frameworks for dynamic problem-solving.
- Ensure agents can interact with APIs, databases, and external systems securely and efficiently.
- Optimize agent performance for scalability, reliability, and low-latency decision-making.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across all projects.
- Integrate AI components into enterprise software systems and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for AI/ML deployments.
Machine Learning and Predictive Modelling:
- Design, implement, and optimise machine learning algorithms for forecasting, classification, segmentation, solving business issues, and recommending systems.
- Apply supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning techniques to solve business problems.
- Perform feature engineering, model selection, and hyperparameter tuning for optimal accuracy.
- Implement real-time inference pipelines for production environments.
- Monitor and improve model performance using MLOps best practices.
- Write reusable and well-structured code with clear documentation.
- Write up documentation in white papers or academic papers for publication.
Collaboration & Engagement:
- Collaborate and work cross-functionally with IT, business leads, Field Ops and R&D data teams to collate and prioritise datasets to meet strategic goals.
- Communicate complex results to non-technical audiences with clarity and precision.
- Effectively provide presentations of actionable insights to business and technical stakeholders.
Research & Innovation
- Stay updated on Agentic AI advancements, LLM fine-tuning, and emerging ML algorithms.
- Experiment with prompt engineering, tool-augmented reasoning, and memory-enabled agents.
- Contribute to proof-of-concepts (POCs) and innovation projects for next-gen AI capabilities.
Compliance & Security:
- Ensure all work complies with GDPR and other UK/EU and international data protection regulations.
- Follow ethical guidelines and best practices for data handling.
- (E) Essential
- A degree in AI, Machine Learning, computer science, statistics or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Typescript and SQL.
- Knowledge of deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Knowledge of agentic AI frameworks (e.g. Strands Agents, LangChain etc.) and API development tools (e.g. PyDantic, FastAPI, Swager)
- Strong knowledge with cloud platforms and/or Agentic AI platforms (AWS Bedrock, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Experience applying deep learning algorithms to time series data and/or imaging data.
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of geospatial data.
- Proficiency in statistical and analytical skills with experience in hypothesis testing and predictive modelling.
- Experience working with data privacy regulations, especially GDPR.
- A pro-active communicator, with the ability to liaise and align with stakeholders effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent fluency in English both written and verbal.
- (D) Differentials
- Experience with observability systems (CloudWatch, Otel, Prometheus, Jaeger, Grafana)
- Experience with complementary agentic systems (Knowledge Bases, Bedrock AgentCore)
