Oxford University Press (OUP), a department of the University of Oxford, works globally to support education and research through high‑quality publishing and learning solutions. Our English Language Teaching (ELT) division in Brazil is expanding, and we are seeking for an Educational Consultant, based in Rio de Janeiro city, with a strong focus on developing new customers, to join our team.


About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and the purpose of this job is to carry out promotional and sales activities interacting directly with customers to explore their needs, build trust, and offer a compelling solution based on OUP’s portfolio of solutions and services so that we achieve new customers and expand increase market share. The selected candidates must be a creative and enthusiastic self-starter with exceptional communication, organizational and sales skills, including negotiation.


Key responsibilities

  • Prospect target institutions virtually and physically
  • Organize and execute an account-based activity plan to manage effective interactions with assigned accounts, be a solution provider giving OUP a competitive edge in order to achieve and possibly exceed targets
  • Establish and manage high quality customer relationships by conducting conversations with key decision makers to understand their business needs, and strategically offer an efficient and effective solution to help their organization reach their goals
  • Deliver compelling professional sales presentations to customers that are relevant to their needs, using existing OUP assets and resources available
  • Actively provide information on customer feedback, market trends, and competitor activities via line management to give strong insights for strategy setting
  • Continuously develop and improve portfolio and market knowledge, communication and promotional skills and tools through self-learning and active participation in training programmes
  • Carry out daily data update routines to agreed Data Quality levels
  • Contribute to a great team spirit and high performing team
  • Adhere to OUP Ethical Policies

This is a full-time role. Travelling will be required.


Qualifications

We are seeking a proactive, collaborative professional with relevant experience in sales, business development, or strategic account management.

  • Developed sales skills and techniques
  • Knowledge of needs of different stakeholders in ELT institutions (principal, coordinators, teachers, etc.)
  • Customer and result orientation
  • Sensemaking and problem solving
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Consultative Selling (digital products and services)
  • Digital literacy
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Deep knowledge of the educational market in Rio de Janeiro and strong existing relationships with local customers (schools, teachers, institutions).
  • Presentation skills (ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs)
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast‑paced environment
  • Valid driver's license
