What will your mission be?
Lead the Brazilian tax function with full ownership of compliance, planning, and strategic advisory across all local entities. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and municipal tax obligations while proactively identifying opportunities to reduce the tax burden and mitigate risks. Drive tax reform readiness, including dual-VAT implementation (IBS/CBS), ensuring the group’s operations are structurally prepared for the transitional period through 2033. Provide authoritative guidance on new business models, marketplace-specific tax treatment, intercompany structures, and product-embedded tax logic. Build and lead a high-performance tax team, managing both individual contributors and people managers. Act as the primary tax liaison to Finance, Product, Treasury, Legal, and HQ stakeholders, representing the Brazilian tax function in group-level discussions and projects.
Job Description:
What your day-to-day will loo like:
- Ensure the accurate and timely calculation of all federal (IRPJ, CSLL, PIS, COFINS, IRRF, IOF), state (ICMS), and municipal (ISS, NFS-e) taxes across all BR entities. Define workload allocation and escalation protocols for the compliance team. Review and sign off on ancillary obligations (SPED, EFD, ECF/ECD, DCTF, REINF). Maintain technical ownership of tax positions and ensure defensibility of key interpretations before authorities;
- Ensure the best, most efficient, and correct tax treatment for the operations of the group's companies in Brazil. Seek opportunities to reduce the tax burden and mitigate tax risks;
- Make decisions based on data and numbers, measuring possible impacts;
- Support the tax compliance team in day-to-day queries;
- Work on cross-projects with the compliance team;
- Own the monitoring and internal response to Reforma Tributária (EC 132/2023, LC 214/2025). Maintain an updated impact model covering the dual-VAT transitional schedule (2026–2033), credit regime, special sector rules, and NFS-e national consolidation (~2029). Coordinate with Product and Finance to ensure system readiness for CBS/IBS split invoicing and credit logic. Represent the tax function in technical forums.;
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams to ensure new features are launched with correct tax treatment embedded from day one. Lead tax workstreams in cross-functional projects, manage deliverable timelines, and translate regulatory requirements into actionable product specs. Support Finance automation and AI initiatives with tax logic validation;
- Lead, coach, and develop a multi-level tax team comprising managers and analysts. Define team goals aligned to company OKRs, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide structured career development. Resolve escalations effectively and maintain a high-accountability, inclusive team culture. Onboard new team members and manage capability gaps proactively. Represent the team’s priorities to Finance leadership.
Requirements:
What you need to take on this challenge:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or Accounting required;
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint;
- Familiarity with ERP systems, tax compliance tools, and tax automation platforms;
- Python or data analysis skills are a differentiator;
- Experience of relevant tax experience, including in a leadership role managing teams.
- Fluency in English;
Differential
- Significant exposure to digital economy / marketplace tax treatment, tax reform advisory (dual-VAT), and intercompany / transfer pricing is strongly preferred. Big Four or equivalent advisory background is a plus.
