Main Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Support

Support the facilitation of design thinking cycles (Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test, Share)

Work with individuals and small groups to deepen:

  • Conceptual understanding
  • Problem-solving
  • Creative thinking

Help design classroom learning into authentic D&I experiences

Support co-teaching moments across grade-level units

Reinforce a culture of student agency, collaboration, and reflection

Documentation

  • Support with capturing and organizing student learning evidence.
  • Support the development of learning journeys
  • Contribute to maintaining organized systems (Google Drive, Sheets, dashboards)

Learning Environment

Prepare and maintain a flexible learning environment

Support in the development of materials for:

  • Exploration
  • Creativity
  • Prototyping

Ensure efficient setup and reset for multiple grade levels

  • Assist with set-up and clean-up before and after project-based learning sessions.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and maintenance of materials and equipment.
  • Support inventory management and organization of resources.


Collaboration & Program Development

Collaborate with a positive, student-first, growth mind-set.

Contribute to conversations around

  • Authentic transfer of learning
  • Alignment across units
  • Student experience and engagement

Participate in team meetings and professional learning

Demonstrate professionalism in attendance, punctuality, confidentiality, and conduct.

Technology & Innovation Support

Support integration of digital and physical making experiences

Troubleshoot basic tech and tool usage during lessons

Supervision & Safety

Support safe use of tools, materials, and equipment

Reinforce expectations for collaborative and respectful learning environments

Support transitions and structured routines within active learning environments.

Certifications and Education

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, Engineering, Technology, or a related field.

Desired

  • Teaching certification.
  • Training or experience working with children in educational or STEM-based settings.

Experience

Required

  • Experience working with children in a school, camp, enrichment, or childcare setting.

Desired

  • Experience supporting STEM, robotics, coding, or inquiry-based programs in elementary schools.
  • Experience assisting with lab preparation or hands-on learning environments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required

  • Ability to work effectively with young children in active, hands-on learning environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructional guidance and collaborate as part of a teaching team.
  • Positive communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired

  • Basic knowledge of science, engineering, coding, or robotics concepts.
