About the Role

The Societal Safety unit ensures our monetization practices do not contribute to societal harm. We identify emerging risks, from election integrity and misinformation to AI-generated content and minor safety, to ensure ads do not undermine societal stability or individual safety.

As a Policy Manager, you will assess risk and develop clear, "MECE" (Mutually Exclusive, Collectively Exhaustive) policies in Confidencial (Apenas para Cadastrados)’s most complex regulatory environments. You will balance revenue opportunities with platform integrity, ensuring our rules are enforceable by both human moderators and LLMs.

Responsibilities:
  • Policy Design: Develop and iterate on global ad policies covering sensitive areas like political advertising, war-related content, and youth safety.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support aligned, well-informed policy decisions and enforcement approaches that balance revenue with societal safety.
  • Escalation Support: Contribute to timely, coordinated responses to regional policy questions and high-profile escalations in partnership with GR and PR, AdEx etc.
  • Trend Monitoring: Monitor regulatory developments, industry trends, and enforcement signals to ensure consistent and responsible policy application across the region.
  • Continuous Iteration: Support policy development by identifying gaps or emerging risks in the monetization ecosystem and proposing clarifications or improvements.
  • Operationalization: Monitor enforcement signals to improve policy effectiveness and ensure compliance with global regulatory standards.
  • Compliance and Transparency: Regularly lead or contribute to FRIs, transparency reports, audits preparation
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in advertising policy, compliance, regulatory affairs, or digital platform safety.
  • Judgment: Proven ability to navigate "gray areas" and exercise sound judgment on sensitive societal issues.
  • Communication: Strong English written skills, with an ability to explain complex policy logic clearly to communicate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Global Mindset: Experience working across diverse time zones and cultural contexts.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience using data-driven insights (e.g., analyzing enforcement trends or risk signals) to inform policy iterations and measure the impact of safety interventions.
  • Experience translating policy intent into scalable processes for AI or human moderation.
  • Proven track record of managing high-profile escalations or 'gray area' content decisions where multiple safety and business interests are in tension.
  • Experience acting as a bridge between technical product teams and non-technical stakeholders to build consensus on sensitive issues and facilitate seamless policy iteration.
