A Postdoctoral position is available at Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics, and Atmospheric Sciences – University of São Paulo (IAG/USP), within the Plasma Astrophysics and High Energy group (GAPAE).
The selected candidate will conduct research on high-energy astrophysical phenomena and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) processesin diffuse environments. The work involves applying analytical and numerical techniques using high-performance computing and contributing actively to the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory (CTAO) and the ASTRI Mini-Array projects.
Particular emphasis will be placed on: cosmic ray acceleration and gamma-ray emission, cosmic magnetic fields, turbulence in diffuse media and embedded Pevatron sources, as well as preparation of scientific programs for CTAO and ASTRI Mini-Array.
The selected applicant will receive a FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship of approximately €2,000, (tax-exempt), along with an additional monthly allowance — the Technical Reserve, equivalent to 10% of the annual fellowship amount — intended for expenses such as purchasing equipment, attending conferences, covering publication costs, and other research-related needs.
