Job Description:
The Principal Mechanical Engineer – FEA will serve as the technical authority for structural and multiphysics simulation within Confidencial (Apenas para Cadastrados). This role will lead advanced analysis activities, define simulation methodologies, and ensure robust validation processes to support product innovation and reliability.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in nonlinear FEA with strong cross-functional collaboration skills and experience in leading complex engineering programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership
Lead advanced structural and multiphysics simulations (static, dynamic, fatigue, thermal, and nonlinear analyses);
Define and implement FEA best practices, modeling standards, and validation methodologies;
Drive simulation-led design optimization and lightweighting initiatives;
Develop predictive models for durability, vibration, and failure analysis;
Guide root cause investigations using simulation tools and correlate with test data.
Strategy & Innovation:
Establish and evolve simulation strategy aligned with Confidencial (Apenas para Cadastrados)’s product roadmap;
Identify opportunities for automation, scripting, and digital engineering transformation;
Evaluate and implement new simulation technologies and tools;
Support digital twin development and model-based engineering initiatives.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support:
Partner with design, manufacturing, materials, and testing teams to ensure simulation-informed decision-making;
Provide technical guidance during concept development and design reviews;
Support supplier technical assessments and validation efforts.
Mentorship & Organizational Impact:
Mentor and develop simulation engineers and analysts;
Provide training and technical oversight to raise overall team capability;
Act as subject matter expert (SME) for structural integrity and multiphysics analysis.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field (Master’s or PhD preferred);
15+ years of experience in FEA and structural simulation in an industrial or consulting environment;
Deep expertise in nonlinear analysis, contact modeling, material and geometrical nonlinearity, dynamic analysis and fatigue;
Proficiency with leading FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, HyperMesh, or equivalent);
Strong understanding of material behavior (metals, composites, elastomers);
Experience correlating simulation with physical test data;
Fluent English skills;
Proven track record of leading complex simulation projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in power systems, rotating machinery, or energy-related products;
Knowledge of vibration, shock, and durability analysis;
Experience with scripting/automation (Python, APDL, or similar);
Familiarity with international standards and regulatory requirements;
Experience working in global, cross-functional engineering teams.
