Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP EWM Consultant to serve as a functional subject matter expert (SME), translating warehouse and logistics business requirements into integrated SAP solutions.
This role encompasses requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, implementation, testing, and ongoing operational support, with a focus on business transformation and continuous improvement.
The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to improve inventory accuracy, warehouse productivity, process traceability, and operational stability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solution Design & Business Stakeholder Engagement
Lead requirements-gathering workshops and process design sessions with stakeholders across logistics, warehousing, procurement, manufacturing, and IT.
Map current-state (as-is) and future-state (to-be) processes, identifying functional gaps, operational bottlenecks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.
Conduct fit-to-standard and gap analyses, prioritizing standard SAP functionality and providing clear business justification for custom enhancements.
Design end-to-end warehouse solutions that address transaction volumes, traceability, productivity, and inventory controls.
Document solution decisions, assumptions, constraints, and integration impacts, maintaining traceability between business requirements and the proposed solution.
2. SAP EWM Configuration & Warehouse Processes
Configure warehouse organizational structures, including warehouse numbers, storage types, storage bins, activity areas, and work centers.
Implement inbound warehouse processes, including receiving, unloading, verification, goods receipt posting, and putaway.
Configure outbound processes, including picking, wave management, packing, staging, shipping, and goods issue posting.
Configure internal warehouse movements, replenishment, stock transfers, physical inventory, and inventory adjustments.
Maintain warehouse process types, warehouse tasks, warehouse orders, determination strategies, and Warehouse Order Creation Rules (WOCR).
Configure Handling Unit (HU) management, packing processes, and relevant master data.
Support radio frequency (RF) execution, mobile data capture, resource management, and execution queues.
Support batch management, serial number tracking, and shelf-life management based on operational requirements.
Configure Post Processing Framework (PPF) actions and document outputs when included in the solution scope.
3. Integration & Functional Specifications
Design and validate integration between SAP EWM and SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA, covering MM, SD, PP, QM, and TM processes as applicable.
Analyze document flows between enterprise systems and warehouse operations, identifying inconsistencies and process dependencies.
Develop functional specifications for interfaces, reports, forms, enhancements, and extensions.
Collaborate with ABAP developers and integration teams to define requirements, validate solutions, and troubleshoot technical issues.
Support integration with external systems, RF/ITS mobile solutions, data capture devices, and warehouse automation technologies, where applicable.
Investigate integration queues and interface failures, including RFC, IDoc, and web service scenarios when used within the project landscape.
4. Testing, Deployment & Hypercare
Prepare and execute unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenarios.
Validate end-to-end processes, including operational exceptions, inventory reconciliation, and cross-module dependencies.
Support master data preparation, initial data loads, and data validation activities.
Participate in cutover planning and execution, including readiness criteria and pre-go-live checks.
Provide go-live and hypercare support, prioritizing issues based on operational impact.
Maintain test evidence, support defect resolution, and obtain business sign-off.
Prepare configuration documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and end-user guides.
5. Operational Support, Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Transfer
Analyze incidents and recurring problems, identify root causes, and implement sustainable functional fixes.
Use the SAP EWM Warehouse Management Monitor and relevant applications to investigate documents, warehouse tasks, inventory, and integration issues.
Evaluate change requests and estimate effort, risks, dependencies, and business impacts.
Identify improvements that enhance inventory accuracy, reduce rework, and increase warehouse execution efficiency.
Provide functional guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to consultants and business users.
Coordinate functional deliverables with onshore, offshore, and partner teams, proactively escalating blockers and delivery risks.
Required Qualifications & Experience
5–9 years of hands-on SAP EWM experience, including system configuration and functional solution design.
Strong expertise in inbound, outbound, internal warehouse movements, and physical inventory processes.
Practical experience with warehouse organizational structures, master data, warehouse tasks and orders, storage strategies, and picking strategies.
Functional knowledge of Handling Unit (HU) management, RF processes, replenishment, and operational monitoring.
Experience supporting SAP EWM implementations, rollouts, enhancements, or application support engagements with broad functional scope.
Understanding of SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA integration and its impact on end-to-end logistics processes.
Ability to develop solution documentation, functional specifications, and test scripts.
Proven ability to independently facilitate workshops, investigate complex functional issues, and present solution alternatives.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
