About the role

The SIS Manager oversees the administration and operation of the University’s Student Information System, ensuring data accuracy, system stability, and effective integration with the Learning Management System (Moodle). This role supervises the SIS team, manages SIS tier 1 and 2 support, and coordinates system developments, custom reports, and data migrations. The SIS Manager collaborates with academic and administrative departments to optimize processes, enhance user experience, and support institutional reporting and compliance requirements.

What you'll do

  • Supervises and coordinates the SIS team, ensuring effective system administration, user support, and task prioritization.
  • Manages and resolves SIS tier 1 and tier 2 SIS support tickets, addressing complex technical and functional issues as needed.
  • Oversees the administration, configuration, and maintenance of the Student Information System, including new developments, upgrades, and custom reporting.
  • Ensures the accuracy and consistency of data across institutional systems through validation, corrections, and migration processes.
  • Manages and supports integrations between the SIS and the Learning Management System (Moodle), ensuring reliable data synchronization.
  • Collaborates with Academic Affairs, Registrar, IT LMS, IT Operations, and other departments to optimize workflows and improve student and staff user experience.
  • Provides training, documentation, and ongoing support to system users to promote effective and compliant use of the SIS.
  • Supports database management activities, provides code-level assistance to the LMS team, and monitors related server performance.
  • Participates in institutional initiatives, system enhancements, and special projects as assigned by the Information Technology Director.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree in Information Technology or related area required, bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology preferred, IT Certificates will be a plus.

Experience

  • Proven hands-on experience administering Student Information Systems (SIS), including user management, configuration, and system maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Help Desk or ticketing systems, resolving Tier 1 and Tier 2 issues, and providing technical and functional support to end users.
  • Experience supporting Registrar, Bursar, and Academic Affairs functions within an SIS, including program setup, course scheduling, student enrollment, and reporting.
  • Experience developing training materials, conducting user training sessions, and contributing to system documentation and institutional projects.
  • Familiarity with SIS integrations to other university systems—particularly Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle—is preferred.
  • Experience with data validation, migration, and reporting tools is an asset.

Language Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese and Spanish (verbal and written) preferred.
