Jenike & Johanson is hiring for a Sr. Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team in our Vinhedo-SP office. This role is critical to the development of detailed, fabrication-ready designs for bulk solids handling equipment used in mining, cement, chemical, and related industries. The Sr. Mechanical Designer will work closely with engineers and other designers globally, transforming conceptual and preliminary layouts into robust mechanical designs suitable for manufacturing, transportation, installation, operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs and fabrication drawings for equipment such as silos, belt conveyors, transfer chutes, feeders and associated structures
  • Translate conceptual and unifilar drawings into complete manufacturing packages
  • Evaluate design alternatives and propose technical improvements considering operation, maintenance, fabrication methods, transport, erection and site constraints
  • Coordinate and technically guide junior designers, reviewing and validating their work
  • Collaborate with engineers to refine and, when appropriate, suggest improvements to conceptual designs
  • Support projects delivery within agreed schedules and budgets

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field
  • 7-10 years of experience in mechanical design for industrial equipment or heavy mechanical systems
  • Experience developing detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or similar tools)
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, painting, assembly, and maintenance requirements
  • Ability to work autonomously and take technical ownership of design tasks
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English (written and verbal)
  • Availability for occasional travel in Brazil and internationally
  • Must have valid driver’s license and passport, or ability to obtain one by employment
