Support Head Teacher

The Head Teacher Support’s main responsibility is to provide academic support to Elementary School students and lead teachers in the areas of English Language Arts (ELA), Portuguese, and Mathematics, contributing to students’ pedagogical development and to the creation of individualized support strategies.

This role involves supporting students with different academic and learning needs, collaborating with Head Teachers in lesson planning and activity adaptations, assisting with pedagogical interventions, and contributing to the development of an inclusive, welcoming, and academically consistent environment.

On a daily basis, the professional will work directly in the classroom and with small groups, offering individualized support, monitoring learning evidence, and contributing to the students’ academic and socio-emotional development.

The main deliverables of this position include:

• Providing individualized academic support to students;
• Supporting ELA, Portuguese, and Mathematics instruction;
• Recording and monitoring learning evidence;
• Collaborating with Head Teachers and the pedagogical coordination team;
• Contributing to inclusive practices and differentiated instructional strategies.

The position requires a completed degree in Pedagogy and previous classroom experience, preferably in the early years of Elementary School.

Experience with academic support, differentiated instruction, and individualized student support is highly desirable. Specialization or experience in Special Education will be considered an important differential.

The ideal candidate is also expected to have:

• Intermediate to advanced English proficiency (preferably C1);
• Knowledge of child development and bilingual education practices;
• Strong observation, organizational, and communication skills;
• Flexibility and collaboration skills for teamwork;
• A welcoming, proactive profile committed to the holistic development of students.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience in international schools or IB contexts;
• Experience with inclusion and curriculum adaptation strategies;
• Familiarity with inquiry-based teaching practices and active learning methodologies.
