Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance & Reporting:
- Oversee and ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax, and other indirect tax returns across various LATAM countries (e.g., Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru).
- Manage the tax closing process as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of tax accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Stay abreast of changes in local tax legislation and interpret their impact on the company's operations.
- Tax Planning & Strategy:
- Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimize the company's tax position within the bounds of tax laws.
- Develop and execute strategies for tax efficiency across the region, including considering legal entity structures and intercompany transactions.
- Provide proactive tax advice on new business initiatives, acquisitions, and restructuring projects in LATAM.
- Transfer Pricing:
- Ensure compliance with local transfer pricing regulations in all LATAM jurisdictions.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation.
- Collaborate with global tax teams on intercompany agreements and policies.
- Tax Audits & Disputes:
- Manage and coordinate all tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities across LATAM.
- Prepare necessary documentation and responses, working closely with external advisors where required.
- Represent the company in tax disputes and negotiations with tax authorities.
- Advisory & Business Partnership:
- Serve as the primary tax liaison for business units and finance teams in the LATAM region, providing expert guidance on tax implications of commercial decisions.
- Collaborate with Legal, Treasury, and other departments on cross-functional projects.
- Process Improvement & Technology:
- Identify opportunities to streamline tax processes, improve efficiency, and enhance controls.
- Leverage tax technology solutions (e.g., ERP tax modules, tax software) to automate and improve tax reporting and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law. A Master's degree in Taxation, Accounting, or a CPA/equivalent professional certification is highly preferred.
- Experience:
- 10 years of progressive tax experience, with a significant portion focused on LATAM tax matters (e.g., 8+ years).
- Prior experience in a multinational corporation or a "Big Four" accounting firm with a focus on international/LATAM tax.
- Proven experience managing tax compliance and planning across multiple LATAM countries (e.g., Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile).
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of LATAM tax laws and regulations, including corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding taxes, and social contributions.
- Proficiency in transfer pricing methodologies and documentation requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and tax software.
- Language Skills:
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Fluent in Spanish (written and spoken).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to adapt to changing tax environments and business needs.
