Área: Marketing e Comunicação
Nível: Junior
We're a UK-based communication agency that transforms complex topics into engaging digital content for diverse audiences. Our work spans science communication, brand storytelling, and interactive digital experiences - and we take the craft of design seriously.
We're looking for a Web & Digital Designer who brings genuine creative vision - not just technical competence.
The Role
You'll lead the visual direction of web projects from concept through to build, creating digital experiences that are distinctive, considered, and effective. This isn't about assembling templates - it's about designing with intent.
Your work will include:
- Designing and prototyping in Figma - from wireframes through to polished, responsive concepts
- Building and shipping sites directly, not just handing off static mockups
- Working closely with our production and development team to deliver pixel-perfect results
- Contributing to the creative direction of client projects, not just executing briefs
What We're Looking For
Design ability comes first
We care most about your eye. Strong typography, purposeful layout, confident use of whitespace and colour - these matter far more than how many tools you can list.
Your portfolio should demonstrate original, distinctive design work. If your sites look like off-the-shelf themes with swapped colours and stock imagery, this isn't the right fit. We're looking for work that shows real creative thinking - layouts that surprise, visual hierarchies that guide, and details that reward attention.
Technical skills that support your design
- Figma - your primary design environment. You should be fluent, not just familiar.
- WordPress - comfortable building custom sites, not relying on pre-built templates. Elementor experience is useful but not essential.
- HTML/CSS - enough working knowledge to bridge design and development confidently.
- Responsive and accessible design - you build for all devices and understand WCAG fundamentals.
Forward-looking technical interests
We're actively exploring AI-assisted design and development workflows. You don't need to be an expert in any of these, but familiarity or genuine curiosity about the following would set you apart:
- AI development tools - Claude Code, Google Stitch, Nano Banana, or similar
- Modern web frameworks - Astro, particularly with Cloudflare deployment
- Framer - still used on some projects, though no longer a requirement
- Motion and interaction design - animations, transitions, micro-interactions
We want someone who's leaning into these tools and excited about where web design is heading - not someone waiting to be told what to learn.
What We're Not Looking For
To save everyone's time: if your portfolio is a list of 50 sites that all look like the same WordPress theme with different colour schemes, please don't apply. We receive a high volume of applications and we're specifically looking for designers whose work stands out from the crowd. Quality over quantity - show us 3–5 projects you're genuinely proud of and can talk about in depth.
Why Work With Us
- Flexible remote working with genuine respect for work-life balance
- Meaningful projects - science communication, education, and brand work that reaches global audiences
- Creative freedom - we want your ideas, not just your execution
- Professional growth - access to emerging tools and the space to experiment with them
- Collaborative culture - a small, supportive team that values craft
How to Apply
Send us:
- Your CV
- A focused portfolio - 3–5 projects that showcase your strongest design work. Show us your thinking, not just the final output.
Want to stand out? Include a short video (60 seconds is plenty) introducing yourself and talking through a project you're proud of. It doesn't need to be polished - a screen recording walking through your work is great. Applications that include a video will be prioritised, but it's not a requirement.
We're particularly interested in seeing:
- Work that demonstrates original design thinking (not template-based builds)
- Evidence of your UI/UX process - how you approach problems, not just what the result looks like
- Any experiments with AI tools, modern frameworks, or emerging web technologies
We welcome applications from designers who care deeply about craft, stay curious about new tools, and want to do work that matters.
