About the role
We’re looking for a WordPress Developer & Support Engineer who’s comfortable living in WordPress all day—fixing bugs, answering support tickets, and keeping client sites running smoothly.
Role: WordPress Developer & Support Engineer
Location: Remote (must be able to work 9–5 ET ; Eastern or Central time strongly preferred)
Type: Full-time (support & maintenance focus)
You’ll handle a mix of support requests, ongoing maintenance for legacy sites, and troubleshooting issues on new builds, using both your own skills and AI coding tools to get things done efficiently.
What you’ll do
Handle client support requests
Work through a steady stream of WordPress support tickets from clients.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to themes, plugins, customizations, performance, and basic security.
Maintain and improve existing sites
Perform ongoing WordPress maintenance for legacy clients (updates, backups, plugin management, basic optimization).
Fix bugs and small issues that appear over time across multiple sites.
Troubleshoot issues on new builds
Help debug and resolve issues on new WordPress builds (layout problems, plugin conflicts, database-related issues, etc.).
Collaborate with other developers/designers to ensure launches and updates go smoothly.
Use AI tools to speed up work
Leverage AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, etc.) to assist with code snippets, debugging, and boilerplate tasks.
Experiment and learn new AI workflows that make support and development more efficient.
Communicate clearly
Provide clear, friendly updates to internal stakeholders (and clients if needed) about what’s going on, what you’ve fixed, and what’s next.
Keep tickets and documentation up to date so the rest of the team has visibility.
What we’re looking for
You might be a great fit if you:
Have strong WordPress experience :
Comfortable working with themes, plugins, and site configuration.
Familiar with common WordPress issues and how to debug them.
Bring solid technical fundamentals :
Good understanding of databases (e.g., MySQL) and how WordPress interacts with them.
Basic development skills (PHP/HTML/CSS/JS) and an ability to read, tweak, and troubleshoot code.
Have used AI coding tools before or are genuinely eager to learn and adopt tools like Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, etc.
Open to experimenting with new workflows that improve speed and quality.
Are curious and AI-friendly:
Work style & communication:
Able to work 9–5 ET reliably (Eastern or Central time zones preferred).
Organized and comfortable managing lots of small, varied tasks across different sites.
Communicate clearly and professionally in writing and async tools (tickets, Slack, email).
Bonus points if you:
Have agency or multi-client experience (juggling multiple sites and priorities).
Are comfortable using common support/ticketing tools and version control (Git).
