You bring strong acute care experience and a high level of professionalism to every shift, with the ability to work independently - particularly during overnight hours. Your attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to best practice ensure safe, high‑quality care for research participants. You are adaptable, organised, and comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, clinicians, and hospital staff. Above all, you are passionate about improving outcomes for people living with diabetes and supporting innovative clinical research.
The role
As a Research Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting Type 1 diabetes clinical trials within the Translational Diabetes and Metabolism Lab at the Confidencial (Apenas para Cadastrados). Working primarily overnight, you will provide direct participant care, conduct clinical assessments, and ensure protocol adherence to support safe and high‑quality research outcomes. You will also have the option to pick up day shifts as needed. You will be responsible for accurate data collection, participant monitoring, and responding to any clinical concerns in collaboration with the on‑call medical team. This role involves close coordination with investigators, study coordinators, laboratory staff, and St Vincent's Private Hospital nursing teams to ensure smooth study operations. It is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful research while utilising and expanding your clinical and research skills.
What we will trust you with
- Providing high‑quality overnight monitoring and clinical care for Type 1 diabetes research participants
- Implementing study protocols in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ethics approvals, and institutional policies
- Conducting overnight clinical assessments, including vital signs, blood glucose checks, IV cannulation, blood sampling, centrifuging samples, and symptom monitoring
- Administering investigational products or study medications according to protocol
- Accurately documenting and maintaining research data and source notes
- Monitoring for adverse events and escalating concerns appropriately
- Responding to clinical emergencies in collaboration with on‑call medical staff
- Supporting participant comfort, privacy, informed consent, and providing reassurance during overnight stays
- Liaising with investigators, coordinators, laboratory teams, and ward nurses to ensure smooth study delivery
- Participating in effective handover between day and night research teams

- You hold current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and clinical documentation systems
- Committed to ongoing professional development
- Experience in clinical trials or research nursing (desirable)
