About the role
The South America Market Leader is fully accountable for the end‑to‑end performance of the Castrol business across South America, with ownership of P&L, strategy, execution, people, HSSE, compliance and reputation.
As the most senior Castrol leader in the region, the role acts as the enterprise leader (“General Manager of the business”) for South America, responsible for setting strategic direction, making trade‑offs across markets and functions, and delivering both short‑term financial results and long‑term value creation, in line with the Castrol Investment Plan (CIP).
The role is a core member of the Americas Performance Unit Leadership Team (PU LT) and represents Castrol in country and cluster leadership forums and with key external collaborators.
Accountabilities
Business & Financial Performance
- Full P&L accountability for South America, including Volume, Revenue, Gross Margin, RCOP, Cash, Working Capital, Overdues and Total Cost Control
- Lead the development and execution of the South America strategy and multi-year ambition, aligned with Castrol and Americas priorities
- Ensure robust governance, forecasting, performance management and risk mitigation across all markets and channels
- Balance in year delivery with long term value creation and portfolio choices.
Integrated Enterprise Leadership
- Lead an integrated regional leadership team across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, HSSE and People
- Drive end to end performance through monthly and quarterly business reviews (E2E) covering sales, marketing, operations, finance and people
- Optimize organizational design, capabilities and resource allocation in line with strategic priorities and DoAs.
Market, Customer & Growth Leadership
- Define and own the Route to Market strategy across diverse South American markets, channels and customer segments
- Build and maintain senior relationships with key strategic customers, distributors and partners
- Ensure deep understanding of customer needs, competitive dynamics and market trends to inform pricing, portfolio and growth initiatives
People, Culture & Capability
- Lead, coach and develop senior leaders, building a strong succession pipeline and sustainable talent base
- Embed a culture of high performance, accountability, inclusion and psychological safety, aligned with Confidencial (Apenas para Cadastrados)’s Who We Are
- Sponsor leadership development, DE&I agenda and organizational capability building across the region
HSSE, Compliance & Governance
- Act as the ultimate accountable leader for HSSE in South America, ensuring safety is the number one priority
- Ensure compliance with Confidencial (Apenas para Cadastrados) Code of Conduct, competition law, anti bribery and corruption requirements, and all local regulations
- Embed Operational Management System elements and ensure appropriate risk reviews and controls are in place
- Ensure all third party and intermediary activities fully align with Confidencial (Apenas para Cadastrados) policies and standards.
External Representation
- Represent Castrol as the most senior executive in country/cluster, safeguarding Confidencial (Apenas para Cadastrados)’s license to operate and reputation
- Engage with country leadership forums, regulators, industry bodies and external partners as required
- Contribute to enterprise discussions and decisions through the Americas PU LT

- Manage a complex functions structure
- Driving consistent performance while allowing local market differentiation
- Balancing short term performance pressure with longer-term strategic transformation
- Building leadership capability and organizational resilience in a dynamic and volatile environment
- Manage multiple priorities with complex and conflicting demands, ensuring both in year financial delivery and long- term value growth is met
- Full responsibility for Castrol South America business performance
- Direct leadership of senior managers across commercial and enabling functions
- Accountable for regulatory, legal and reputational outcomes as the most senior Castrol representative in region
- Performance reviewed regularly with VP and Finance Director Castrol Americas (MPC cadence)
Requirements
Experience (depth and nature)
- 10+ years of senior leadership experience with full P&L accountability in complex, multi‑country environments.
- Proven success leading large, cross‑functional organizations, beyond Sales & Marketing.
- Strong collaborator management experience, internal and external.
- Ability to manage short‑term delivery while shaping long‑term strategy.
- Travel requirements: 30% to 40%.
